During this last week, thanks to the latest publication of the newspaper EL PAÍS, we have seen how the coronavirus can be spread in closed rooms with several people.
In the news, three scenarios are proposed based on real cases where the coronavirus is easily spread if a mask is not used, the duration of the meeting is not controlled, and the areas of possible contagion are not ventilated.
As it says, aerosols are very small contagious particles that a person expels when breathing, speaking, or singing and that remain floating in the air of closed environments.
To avoid this situation, distance is not enough, and neither is wearing a mask. Although it is true that they help reduce infections, it is important that closed spaces remain ventilated. But… What happens when a room has no windows or doors and we cannot ventilate it?
Ozone equipment is a possible solution. Generating 5,000–28,000 mg of ozone per hour, they eliminate viruses, bacteria, mites, and all types of odors. Additionally, depending on the square meters of the room, it stays on for 2 or 55 minutes. This type of machinery is applicable to supermarkets, offices, vehicles, locker rooms, and in general, closed places where many aerosols exhaled by several people accumulate.
Although we have previously said that wearing a mask is not enough to prevent infections, it is true that we contribute to reducing the number of infections. According to the COUNTRY article, by wearing masks, we could reduce up to 4 infections in total, as long as the masks meet a certain filtration efficiency.
Its filtration efficiency is greater than 99%, which means that very few particles are filtered when we exhale.
