Light pollution in cities has been a reality for decades. Overlighting at night has become a serious environmental problem and directly affects people and biodiversity. The ideal way to reverse this situation is to control the regulation of luminosity so that it meets the appropriate requirements, such as intensity and temperature, that favor the health, performance, or comfort of people. And, at the same time, it reduces light pollution in cities.
That is why Tecnol, in line with the objective of achieving a more sustainable future, joins the Slowlight commitment, an initiative to achieve better environments through light, both in urban and rural areas. Creating night spaces in harmony, in which the night regains prominence, thanks to calm, intelligent, healthy, sustainable, comfortable, and emotional public lighting.
This initiative, aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, contributes to reducing the environmental problem caused by light pollution, promoting a new lighting culture, and a change of focus towards global sustainability that allows us to recover the night in cities.
Slowlight has numerous benefits, such as:
- Promote the energy transition and the responsible use of resources
- Increased cost savings and maintenance of facilities
- Contribute to the reduction and improvement of the carbon footprint that affects the environment
- Generate more comfortable and healthy environments for biodiversity and humans
Tecnol with the Slowlight commitment
At Tecnol, work is already underway to promote sustainable public lighting by offering solar energy and LED lighting that has motion sensors and twilight switching on. In this way, light pollution is reduced and the natural nighttime environment is preserved. That is why, in order to guarantee an improvement at night and adequate management of city lighting, Tecnol signs a commitment to the Slowlight initiative and is actively committed to collaborating to reverse light pollution.
