First building in the province of Tarragona to be awarded the LEED Gold seal of approval

At TECNOL, we start 2024 by receiving LEED Gold medal for our new corporate headquarters, inaugurated last November during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of TECNOL. A recognition awarded by U.S. Green Building Council, a private organization, with more than 30 years of experience, that promotes sustainability in building design and construction.

TECNOL and sustainability:

From TECNOL, with the construction and start-up of the new corporate headquarters, which also houses other companies of Masergrup, we have reaffirmed our commitment to sustainability, the territory and the environment.

We have carried out several actions and projects from our beginnings to the present day, in which we have sought to improve the sustainability of our products, systems and processes. And we maintain this vision and continue to work with projects such as the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of different industrial buildings of our property, or with the construction of our headquarters.

This LEED Gold medal is in addition to other certificates and recognitions that have been awarded to our headquarters, such as the ISO 14001 certificate, which recognizes the company’s good environmental practices and willingness to continue improving in the prevention of climate change. And also the Ciutat de Reus Environment Award, for the construction of a 100% self-sufficient building, combining sustainability and innovation in this project.

LEED system:

The LEED system is a program of the U.S. Green Building Council that provides a verification of green and sustainable buildings.

This rating system is aimed at all types of buildings, from commercial buildings, homes, businesses, schools and also in all phases of the building life cycle, from design, construction and operations and maintenance.

In this building rating program, different aspects related to location and transportation, sustainable locations and spaces, water efficiency, energy, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, innovation, regional priority and an integrative process are evaluated.

In TECNOL we are really proud to receive this certificate which, as Peter Templeton, president and CEO of U.S. Green Building Council & Green Business Certification Inc. says “LEED certification identifies Masergrup LEED Corporate Building as an example of a sustainability showcase and demonstrates leadership in the transformation of the construction sector.”
